What currencies can I use as my card's default base currency?
When setting up or managing a card on the Verto platform, you can select your default base funding currency via a simple dropdown menu:
GBP (British Pound): This is the default selection for all newly created cards.
NGN (Nigerian Naira): You can switch your card's base currency to NGN at any time depending on your business funding needs.
Verto is actively building out this multi-currency framework to support additional selectable base currencies in future platform updates.
If you make a purchase in a currency that differs from your card's default wallet setup (for example, making a Euro merchant purchase using a card linked to your Naira wallet), Verto uses a streamlined direct-debit conversion process:
The system automatically calculates the exact amount needed from your funding wallet to match the merchant's billing amount using the real-time Verto exchange rate.
The funds are pulled directly from your selected wallet in a single action.
No internal wallet swaps: Verto no longer initiates secondary "Auto-FX" transfers between your individual client wallets, keeping your transaction ledger clean and easy to track.
Funding currencies supported by the Verto VISA card
Below are the list of funding currencies support by Verto virtual cards:

United States dollar | USD |
Japanese yen | JPY |
New Zealand dollar | NZD |
Swedish krona | SEK |
Swiss franc | CHF |
Canadian dollar | CAD |

What happens when I spend in the same currency as my wallet?
If your transaction currency matches your funding wallet currency (such as an NGN-denominated purchase funded directly by your NGN wallet), the transaction executes seamlessly at a 1:1 ratio directly against that balance.
Which wallet receives my card refunds and chargebacks?
To keep your global accounting predictable, Verto routes all card reversals to a centralized location. Regardless of which currency or wallet you originally used to make a purchase, all incoming refunds and successful chargeback credits are automatically converted and deposited directly into your GBP wallet at the final cardholder billing amount.
