TZS local account overview

Local Tanzania Accounts overview

Your TZS local account allows you to receive and send Tanzanian Shillings locally in Tanzania.

With your TZS local account bank details, you can receive from anyone — yourselves, your clients, or your suppliers. For those paying into the account, it will be the same as making any other domestic bank transfer in Tanzania.

There is no need to create a top-up; we will credit the funds to your TZS wallet as soon as we receive them. You can then use these funds to transfer as you normally would through the Verto platform.

What are the settlement details?

Your TZS local account is issued via either CRDB Bank Plc or Ecobank Tanzania.
This is assigned automatically based on your use case — you will not need to choose. Your account details will be visible in your wallet once your account is set up.

Both banks support the same payment methods and the account details you need to share with senders follow the same format:

  • Account Name: As shown in your wallet

  • Account Number: Unique to your account/wallet

  • Bank Name: As shown in your wallet (CRDB Bank Plc or Ecobank Tanzania Limited)

  • SWIFT Code: As shown in your wallet (CORUTZTZ for CRDB / ECOCTZTZ for Ecobank)

  • Bank Address: As shown in your wallet

Important: CRDB account numbers may contain both letters and numbers.
Ecobank account numbers are numeric only. Always share your account number exactly as it appears in your wallet.

What payment methods are supported?

Both CRDB and Ecobank support the same four payment methods:

  • TIPS (Tanzania Instant Payments System) — instant payments up to TZS 20 million, including from mobile money providers, available 24/7

  • EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) — batch payments up to TZS 20 million, settled within 1 working day

  • TISS/RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement) — for high-value payments above TZS 20 million, settled in near real-time during working hours

  • Book Transfer — instant transfers between accounts at the same bank, available 24/7
