What is a "Pending" card transaction?
When you tap, insert, or type your Verto card details online to make a purchase, the merchant instantly requests an authorization from us to check if you have enough money.
If approved, these funds are immediately held so you cannot accidentally spend them elsewhere. The transaction will appear in the Pending section of your wallet feed. At this stage, the money has not actually left Verto yet; it is simply locked waiting for the merchant to claim it.
How long does a transaction stay pending?
Merchants typically take 24 to 48 hours to collect the funds. However, in some cases it can take up to as long as 30 days depending on the merchant. Once the merchant officially claims the money (a process called "clearing" or "settlement"), the transaction moves out of the Pending section and into your Verto Wallet Main Feed as a fully settled transaction.
Why hasn't my balance updated/Why can't I see my refund yet?
For Purchases: Your Available Balance drops immediately when a transaction is pending, but your final statement balance will only update once the transaction moves to the main feed.
For Cancelled Orders: If you cancel an order while it is still "Pending," the merchant will reverse the transaction and it will be removed from the pending feed. It will show under the Transactions list when viewing the respective card.
When a merchant agrees to refund you, they send the money back to the card you paid with. It typically takes 5-10 working days for the merchant's bank to process the refund and for it to appear in your Verto balance. We cannot speed this up, as we must wait to receive the funds from the merchant.
